THE 2023 DARK CHARGE VARIANTS ARE HERE
Braxton takes great pride in being a Kentucky brewing company. Dark Charge, our Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, is a love letter to Kentucky’s unbridled spirit. That spirit is brewed into this massive dark Imperial Stout, crafted & aged in barrels that give a lasting depth and character to the finish.
For the earliest folks living around the Covington, Kentucky and surrounding Cincinnati area, the Ohio River connected families and communities in the region to coal. The rich, dark diamonds that lit lights, warmed homes, and fired the power that built this city is in the spirit of Dark Charge.
Barrel Aged Dark Charge
This barrel-aged stout features a blend of multiple vintages, curating the perfect cuvée. This year's Base Barrel Aged Dark Charge is a blend of 2019, 2020, 2022 vintages. Showcasing deep aromas of stone fruits such as plums that pair nicely with the notes of coffee and roast. The bourbon barrel character brings forward smooth notes of vanilla, toffee, and caramel that complement the beer’s overall heavy mouth feel. It’s a perfect harmony of complex roasted malt stout character with the delicate notes of bourbon and oak.
Peanut Butter Dark Charge
For the first time, Dark Charge is infused with Peanut Butter! This Barrel-Aged Stout with Peanut Butter is a decadent delight, blending velvety stout aged in bourbon barrels with creamy peanut butter. Creating a dessert-like experience that will leave you coming back for more.
Dark Charge Barleywine
A first of its kind - Dark Charge Barleywine embodies the essence of time-honored craftsmanship. Aged in freshly dumped New Riff bourbon barrels, this robust barleywine reveals a symphony of flavors—from toffee to toasted coconut. A testament to patience and passion, it's a masterpiece of complexity and depth.
Dark Charge Molé
Returning for the first time since 2019 - a fan favorite - Dark Charge Mole. This base barrel-aged stout gets a copious amount of cinnamon, ancho chilies, vanilla beans and cocoa nibs! These four ingredients pair together in perfect harmony with notes of freshly ground cinnamon, subtle heat from the chilies on the back palate, chocolate, and vanilla to round out notes of bourbon, oak, and the stouts roast.
Vino - Dark Charge Beer / Wine Hybrid
Introducing Dark Charge Vino, our groundbreaking beer-wine hybrid. Marrying the richness of stout with California Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in Bourbon Barrels, it delivers a revelation of flavors. As exciting as the Sunday morning staple it received its namesake from, the 2023 Dark Charge Donut Box creates a nostalgic representation of your favorite donuts! Each Imperial Stout can is layered with flavors to mimic a Raspberry Jelly Filled, Boston Cream, and Chocolate Frosted donut!
Raspberry Jelly Filled Donut
This delectable stout is a recipe of flavors, pouring a deep, velvety black, crowned by a frothy, tan head. The nose is greeted with scrumptious hints of vanilla and roasted coffee, with a captivating blend of dark chocolate, espresso, and the indulgent sweetness of raspberry-infused jelly. Aged in bourbon barrels, it boasts a subtle, warming bourbon undertone that complements the rich, dessert experience we all love.
Boston Cream Donut
Treat yourself to this tasty stout that pours a deep, rich black, complemented by a luxurious tan head. STAVE - A NIGHT IN THE DARK
Introducing STAVE: A Night in the Dark. Northern Kentucky’s premier beer and bourbon dinner, featuring a 7-course culinary journey that celebrates the intersection of beer and bourbon, by marrying the mastery of Braxton Brewing Company’s Dark Charge Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and New Riff Distillery Handcrafted Bourbon. Each course, meticulously crafted by one of seven incredible Northern Kentucky eateries, showcases an alchemy of flavors and the art of culinary ingenuity.
STAVE is a celebration of the oak barrels that breathe life into these exceptional beverages. Indulge in seven courses from B-Line restaurants: Bouquet, Coppin’s, Lisse, Pompilio’s, Rich’s Proper, and Smoke Justis. Pair each carefully crafted course with one of Braxton Brewing Company’s 2023 Dark Charge Barrel Aged Imperial Stout variants and a signature New Riff Cocktail to elevate the flavor profile.
